Course Description
This course equips pharmacists with the knowledge and skills to confidently advise patients on medicinal cannabis. It explores the science behind cannabis, its therapeutic applications in Australia, and safe dispensing practices. Pharmacists will gain expertise in the endocannabinoid system, dosing, and potential risks to ensure optimal patient care.

- Explain the endocannabinoid system and its function.
- Describe the pharmacology and therapeutic effects of medicinal cannabis.
- Identify potential therapeutic uses of medicinal cannabis in Australia.
- Explain the safety profile and acute toxicity of cannabis.
- Outline considerations for treatment, pharmacokinetics, dosing, and titration.
- Discuss the biological science and physiological interactions of cannabis in the behind medicinal cannabis with the human body and the mechanisms of therapeutic effects.
- Safely and professionally counsel patients regarding medicinal cannabis use and dispense cannabis products following Australian regulatory
- Ensure safe and effective use of medicinal cannabis through gaining an understanding of medical cannabis dosing regimens consistent with common disease states, so as to ensure the safe use of medicines.
- Describe what constitutes poor prescribing and how to engage prescribers in a knowledgeable and professional manner, and when it would be appropriate to report unsafe prescribing practices to the relevant regulatory bodies.

This course will further your knowledge and awareness of cannabis medicine, on its journey towards mainstream acceptance.
Module 12: Medical Cannabis Access Pathways and Legal implications (Dr. Gull Herzberg)
Dr Gull Herzberg takes your hand and walks you through- step by step the Australian Medical Cannabis access pathways. SASa, SASb, and authorized prescriber pathway processes are all clearly defined. Additionally, Dr Herzberg reviews current Australian driving regulations and other potential legal implications. Ignorance of regulation is no defence in a court of law. This module arms you with knowledge of the Australian legal process and implications of treating patients with cannabis medicine in Australia.

Certification Details
This course is accredited by the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) as a 10-hour, Group 2 CPD activity.
At the end of each module, you will have a set of questions designed to test the real-world application of your skills.
